Review: Singin' In The Rain

Singin' In The Rain is the 1952 classic starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds. Because of its great songs and dances, it's probably one of the best movie musicals of all time. Its huge success led to it becoming a musical, and now, it's here in Manila!

I was blessed enough to watch the matinee show on August 29 in the theater at Solaire.

I found the show phenomenal especially the choreography! The show really makes you feel like you're in 1927 with the help of the costumes and set. It's a light-hearted and fun musical that's great to watch with your family. Richard Gau, the alternate Don Lockwood, did a really great job as Don Lockwood. Bethany Dickson, who plays Kathy Selden, and Stevan Van Wyk, who plays Cosmo Brown, also did a fantastic job. But the person who stole the show for me was Taryn-Lee Hudson, who plays Lina Lamont. She was so funny and definitely brightened up the whole show. If there was anything I was unhappy about, it would be the fact that I couldn't hear the tap dancing because the floor mics probably weren't that strong. Also, there were some technical difficulties after the song Singin In The Rain because you couldn't hear his voice at the end but other than that, the show was really good.

What I loved about the show was that the plot was very close to the original. Even some of the lines were from the movie which definitely made me nostalgic. I also loved the fact that it was raining on stage! I mean, who wouldn't?

Catch the splashing musical before it ends on September 13! Buy your tickets at ticketworld.com.ph!
